Why Be part of a trip?

✽
Relationships are the foundation of how we do ministry. By joining Para on a trip, you increase the ability we have to relationally connect with pastors and leaders to encourage and engage with them in significant ways.
-
✽
There are opportunities to intentionally and organically use your God-given talents and giftings to serve pastors and ministry leaders.
-
✽
Encourage and be encouraged by the body of Christ outside of your local church setting.
-
✽
Experience a new culture in a safe environment with local church leaders.
-
✽
Learn and grow personally and spiritually alongside others who desire to do the same. We always want to point one another to Christ as the foundation of our faith.
-
✽
Have fun! We work hard to be able to enjoy times of fellowship or engaging in the local community.
Relationships are the foundation of how we do ministry. By joining Para on a trip, you increase the ability we have to relationally connect with pastors and leaders to encourage and engage with them in significant ways. Many of the most meaningful times of ministry are done outside of the training times:
One-to-one conversations about life, ministry challenges, and biblical understanding
One-to-one times of prayer
Meals in homes to engage with pastors in regular rhythms of life
Organic ministry opportunities that present themselves simply by “being there”
Taking these opportunities to come alongside the Para team and truly model for pastors and leaders what it looks like to shepherd and serve others can have exponential impacts in these pastors' lives, communities, and families.
Para’s vision is not to host short-term mission trips for large church groups. However, as pastors and leaders have joined us throughout the years, we have seen the incredible impact there is when we are able to add to our team. This is why we commonly say ‘Estamos Para,’ which means ‘we are Para.’ We know God wants to use His Body to collectively partner with pastors and churches all across Central America. Is he calling you?
FAQs
-
Every trip is unique. We aim to keep costs as low as possibly while ensuring the safety and well-being of anyone who joins us on a trip. You would be responsible for airfare, cost of lodging (accommodations vary by location), and any personal spending you would want to do. This has typically been around $600+ in the past. Para Ministries covers all food and transportation costs while at the location. We never want money to be the reason someone doesn't join us on a trip. If you are feeling led to join us, contact us.
-
Absolutely. If you or or church feel led to sponsor a week or half-week of training, you can designate that at the time you give. A week typically costs $1800.
-
Again, every trip is different and we try to work around schedules. Our trainings are usually held over 3-4 days, and we often give at least a day before and after for travel or other ministry and fellowship opportunities. Generally pastors choose to come for a week, but there is no minimum or maximum amount of time.
-
This ultimately depends on you! While you are with us, you would have the opportunity to be part of our teaching team during the trainings. We work with you ahead of time so you can decide which lessons you want to teach from the Para Ministries workbook, and prepare ahead of time before you arrive. There are also other possible ministry opportunities, such as preaching at local churches or leading times of worship. While these can't be guaranteed, we do our best to partner with local churches to find a good fit to come alongside and encourage them.
