Statement of faith

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. God is eternal (Psalm 90:2), infinite (1 Timothy 1:17), and sovereign (Psalm 93:1). He is omniscient (Psalm 139:1-6), omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-13), omnipotent (Revelation 19:6), and unchanging (Malachi 3:6). He is holy (Isaiah 6:3), just (Deuteronomy 32:4), and righteous (Exodus 9:27). God is love (1 John 4:8), gracious (Ephesians 2:8), merciful (1 Peter 1:3), and good (Romans 8:28). [Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Genesis 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19]

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God's word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth and has final authority for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is the truth without error. The Bible was not written only to educate us, but to change our lives. [Psalm 119:19; 2 Timothy 3:16-17]

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. [Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; John 14:10-31; Romans 1:4]

The holy spirit

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and Jesus (the Son). He is present in the world to make people aware of their sin and of their need for Jesus Christ, to teach in all truth, and he reminds us of this truth, enabling us to live a life of surrender to God. He provides the Christian with power for living, as well as uniquely gifting all believers for works of ministry, for the building up of the Body of Christ. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. [2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; Ephesians 5:18; Romans 12:1-8; 1 Corinthians 12, 14:12; John 14:17, 26]

people

People came into existence by being directly created by God as male and female, and we are made in the image and likeness of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. All people are born into sin, and by this sin are separated from God. People are utterly unable to remedy this fallen state. [Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2, Ephesians 2:1-5,12]

salvation

We believe salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it.  We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works.  Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.  When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith making Him Lord over our lives, we are saved.  Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith and is born-again into the Kingdom of God, and are sealed with the Holy Spirit. [Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1, Ephesians 1:13]

eternity

People were created to exist forever; all humans, from the moment of conception, have an immortal soul. We will either exist eternally separated from God as a result of sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. [John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15]

THe gospel

We believe God spoke creation into existence, and as a result of the Fall, sin entered the world, creating a need for salvation for all humanity. We believe that salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone. We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, by the seed of the Holy Spirit of God without benefit of a human male.  We believe that the death of Jesus on the cross was the acceptable substitute for the sins of humanity, accepted by God vicariously, one man, being fully God and fully man, dying for the sins of all men.  We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ alone is sufficient and acceptable to cover the sins of man and that without the blood of Christ, there is no remission.  We believe that Jesus died a literal death on the cross of Calvary, that his body lay in the tomb for three days, and that on the morning of the third day, He rose from the dead.  We believe that His resurrection was the final victory over all enemies and that there will be a final resurrection of all who have ever lived; some to eternal glory with Him and some to eternal damnation separate from Him. [Genesis 1:1; Genesis 3; Romans 5:12; Genesis 1:27; Matthew 1:18; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4]
